CROWDS gathered in Bury to mark the 99th anniversary of the Gallipoli landings.

A service at Bury Parish Church in The Rock was followed by a march to the Fusilier Museum in Moss Street on Sunday afternoon.

Salutes were taken by President of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers (Lancashire) Brigadier Paul Nanson, the Mayor of Bury Cllr Sharon Briggs and Greater Manchester Lieutenant Warren J Smith.

Taking part in the march were sea, army and combined cadet force (CCF) cadets, along with Fusiliers Association members.

The Gallipoli landings took place on April 25, 1915, and were part of a campaign to capture a peninsula guarding the Dardanelles Strait in what is now known as Turkey.
