A DRUNKEN man stole a bottle of wine from his mother’s home and kicked the family pet dog during a row with his teenage sister, a court heard.

At Bolton Crown Court Robert Golinski, prosecuting, told how Nathan Farnworth had turned up at his mother’s house in Rhode Street, Tottington, at midnight on December 16 last year.

His mother, with whom the court heard, he has a difficult relationship, was out, but Farnworth’s 17-year-old sister and 15-year-old brother were in bed.

The door was unlocked so Farnworth let himself in, got into an argument with his sister, punching a wall and kicking the dog as well as helping himself to a bottle of wine from the fridge.

The teenagers fled the house with the dog and rang their mother, who called police and 24-year-old Farnworth was arrested nearby by officers who had to threaten him with a Taser.

Farnworth, of Peel Brow, Ramsbottom, pleaded guilty to stealing the wine.

Recorder Simon Killeen sentenced Farnworth to three months in prison, suspended for 12 months.
