EXERCISE enthusiasts are being invited to “fitness parties” which will be held across Bury during May and June.

The parties will be held as part of the I Will If You Will movement, which saw Bury being chosen as a national pilot scheme to get women more active and into a healthy lifestyle.

One of the assets has been a mobile swimming pool installed at Broad Oak Sports College as part of the initiative.

The parties will be held at the Longfield Suite in Prestwich on Sunday, Ramsbottom Civic Hall on May 18 and Broad Oak Sports College, Bury, on June 1 where participants will be able to test out the pool.

The events will feature high energy exercises, including belrobics, Zumba, piloxing, metafit and burlesque.

Julie Porter, Bury Leisure studio instructor and I Will If You Will champion, said: “The fitness parties are loads of fun and a great way for us ladies to get together, try something new and find out what we like best.

“With 20-minute sessions of belrobics, Zumba, piloxing, metafit and burlesque, you’ll be able to try some great activities in a relaxed environment all in one place. So why not come along and give exercise a whirl? Bring your mates too.”

Emma Griffiths, who took part in a party at Castle Leisure Centre over the Easter holidays, said: “Everyone who came had a great laugh, and the instructors were brilliant — they go step-by-step for each activity and talk you through it, so it doesn’t matter if you’ve never done it before.

“With three more parties coming up, I’d advise anyone to give it a go — you’ve got nothing to lose, everything to gain and you’re sure to find something you love. I’m definitely going again.”

The parties at the Longfield Suite and Broad Oak Sports College are for women only. However, men are welcome to take part in the event at Ramsbottom Civic Hall. Each party runs from 1pm to 3pm and costs £2.
