FUNDRAISERS across Bury are lacing up their running shoes to take part in the BUPA Great Manchester Run for a host of worthy causes.

The race, which takes place this Sunday (May 18), is Europe’s biggest 10km event and has raised an estimated £22 million for charity since it was first held in 2003.

Victoria McNulty, who works at Bury Society for Blind and Partially Sighted People, hopes to raise £200 to improve the welfare of those with sight loss.

She said: “I am really looking forward to this challenge and have been doing some training in preparation as I am keen to raise as much as possible for such a good cause.”

Also taking part are Hassan Mushaid, aged 27, and 25-year-old Nahim Ali, colleagues at Adalberto estate agents based in Moston Lane, Bury.

Hassan and Nahim want to raise £500 for Jigsaw, a charity which provides sports and social activities for young disabled people in Bury.

Hassan said: “We have worked with Jigsaw in the past and we see them doing work in Bury and really helping their members. We decided to be proactive and help these guys. Our target is £500.”
