A MAN was rescued from the roof of his home by firefighters after getting stuck while doing manual work.
Appliances from Bury and Whitefield, along with technical response units from Leigh and Ashton-under-Lyne, visited the man’s mid terraced house in Manchester Road, Blackford Bridge, at 2.13pm.
The man, who is in his late 40s, was not using a ladder while doing work on the roof.
He was unable to get a grip on the roof tiles and leant against the chimney while firefighters attempted to rescue him.
Firefighters managed to get him down within 45 minutes using a hydraulic platform.
The man did not suffer any injuries.
Karl Gibbons, crew manager at Whitefield fire station, said: “If people are working on roofs, they should make sure they use the right equipment.”
