BURY Lions Club has secured vital sponsorship ahead of the town’s carnival which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 8.

Five local companies have stepped forward to show their support for the popular annual event which has been organised by the Lions over a number of decades.

Carnival chairman Scott Richardson has welcomed the sponsorship from Rowe Hankins, Bury IT Support, Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe, Pure Indulgence and CPS Cudis.

In keeping with tradition, the Bury Lions Carnival will feature the colourful floats parade which will travel in and around the town centre as well as gala events including a car boot sale, carnival stalls and children’s inflatables.

The gala is scheduled to be held between 10am and 4.30pm and the street parade will take place at 1.30pm. There are also plans for carnival princesses past and present to attend, as well as those who have won the Miss Bury title.

Welcoming the sponsorship, Mr Richardson said: “It makes a big difference. We can’t really start the carnival without them.

"It shows there are always people out there to support this fantastic event.”

Meanwhile, volunteers are being sought to help out during the floats procession.

Every penny raised from the Bury Lions Carnival goes towards charities and good causes within the community.
