The guys doing the live streaming appear to have broken out a few arty panoramic shots. Good to get an overview.

2:20pm

2:18pm

Couple of Bury's friendly bobbies giving the floor a quick patrol. Some of the only relaxed-looking faces I can see at the moment.

2:17pm

The same table has just fallen for the second time. Could be a metaphor for something? More than a few people jumped then I think.

2:16pm

It has been an hour since the Bury North count began. Hearing whispers Rammy could be soon.

2:12pm

Just a recap if Elton is first: Conservative Cllr Michael Hankey is up against Lib Dem Andrew Garner, UKIP Graeme Kerby, Labour Sarah Kerrison and Green Julie Southworth.

2:10pm

1:58pm

East ward counters also looking like they might be nearly done.

1:58pm

We've heard the Elton result is imminent.

1:56pm

A lot of pacing being done here. Can see a few nervous faces from the press gallery.

1:52pm

Madam Mayor Cllr Sharon Briggs is here, wearing her mayoral chain but no party rosette. The mayoralty changes to Bury's first independent mayor, Michelle Wiseman, next month.

1:50pm

Other husband-and-wife candidates include incumbent Lib Dem Cllr Donal O'Hanlon, St Mary's ward, and his wife Joanne O'Hanlon, who is standing in Radcliffe East against Cllr Nick Parnell.

1:45pm

Spotted: Tim Pickstone. Just arrived. Bury North MP David Nuttall has left, to return later he says. Bury South MP Ivan Lewis still holding the fort. David's wife Sue Nuttall is up for reelection in Church ward.

1:42pm

Radcliffe East Cllr Nick Parnell is also not present, due to being in hospital so I'm told. Get well soon Nick.

1:39pm

Still no sign of Lib Dem leader Tim Pickstone, who is contesting Holyrood.

1:33pm

1:32pm

Count now underway for Bury South also. Completely different atmosphere here now; much quieter, cllrs standing anxiously over counters.

1:25pm

Tamoor Tariq, Bury's youngest cllr, is up for reelection in the Redvales ward. Among those standing against him is Conservative candidate Luis McBriar, another youngster.

1:22pm

Counting for Tottington and Elton momentarily halted by a loud bang - not to worry, only a table falling over. Not one of the ones ballots were being counted on either.

1:14pm

12:59pm

Mike Kelly announces count for Bury North to start now, still some verification going on for Bury South wards.

12:54pm

Speaking to cllr mike Connolly, labour leader, who says it is too tight to call at the moment.

12:50pm

It looks as though counting is ready to start in a few wards, but not everywhere

Two current Labour cllrs, Ken Audin, who represented Besses, and Ann Audin, ward cllr for Unsworth, are not seeking reelection.

11:58am

Nine incumbent Labour cllrs, six Conservatives (almost half their 13 total seats in the council) and both Bury's Lib Dem cllrs are standing.

11:53am

UKIP fielded nine candidates and the English Democrats two.

11:47am

Labour and the Tories have both contested all 17 seats available, with the Lib Dems and the Greens standing 15 candidates each.

11:45am

This is also the first year Bury Council has provided a live stream of the count to watch online. This is something they've been doing at council meetings since December 2012.

11:44am

This is the first year the count has taken place the day after polling, rather than on the night as is customary.

11:43am

The basics - one third of Bury's 51 council seats, 17 wards, were up for election yesterday. A total of 75 candidates stood across the borough.

11:41am

11:36am

Counting well underway now, MPs Ivan Lewis and David Nuttall are both in attendance.
