A NEW and innovative recovery service which will help people turn their lives around has been launched in Bury.

Bury councillors and service providers were amongst interested parties who attended the One Recovery Bury event at the town’s Elizabethan Suite.

One Recovery Bury sets out to place an emphasis on improving an individual’s wellbeing across a range of issues, including employment, accommodation, criminal justice and mental health.

The abstinence-based service aims to boost life aspiration, community cohesion and promote a safer and healthier Bury.

It is delivered in a partnership between Addiction Dependency Solutions (ADS), Harvey House Social Enterprise, Sodexo Justice Services and Bury Employment Support and Training (Bury EST).

The event began with an introduction by ADS chief executive, Lady Rhona Bradley, about their expertise in delivering high quality alcohol and drug treatment.

Dr Ashutosh Kaushal, lead clinician for One Recovery Bury, gave a presentation outlining Harvey House Social Enterprise’s work while Trevor Shortt, director of Forest Bank Prison, introduced the important work undertaken to deter inmates from reoffending.

ADS director of service delivery, Bill Paterson, said: “This is a really exciting service and the first integrated drug and alcohol addiction service ADS has delivered.”

Lady Bradley added: “The day outlined the pioneering partnership that has come together to provide an integrated treatment service for Bury people.”
