BURY town centre was transformed into a cavalcade of colour as eager spectators and revellers witnessed Sunday’s Lions Carnival spectacular.
They turned out in force to watch the popular and impressive floats parade weave its way from Market Street to The Rock.
The procession, which embraced a mix of more than 20 gaily-decorated vehicles, walking parties and bands, lived up to its billing as the highlight of the annual event.
Elsewhere, the new gala site at the market car park, which offered a host of stalls, sideshows and entertainment, welcomed visitors galore throughout the day.
The huge crowd enjoyed some sunshine, which put the icing on the cake for Bury Lions Carnival chairman Mr Scott Richardson.
He said: “Overall, it was absolutely amazing and I didn’t hear one negative comment throughout.”
Those taking part in the parade gathered in Market Street prior to the 1.30pm start. They included Seedfield Sports Club, Woolfold Morris Dancing Troupe, Street Shakers, Mosses and Beasties youth clubs, Sea Cadets, Bury Society for Blind and Partially Sighted People, Bury FC Disabled Supporters Club, Bury Council as well as nine representatives from Bury Shopmobility wearing a variety of cartoon character costumes and driving their own scooters.
Mrs Sheila Harrison, a committee member, said: “We’re taking part because we really want to let people know that we are here.
"Because of the carnival, it means we can give Bury Shopmobility a big push."
