POLICE have released fresh information about the movements of a man who died after being punched at the Parklife Weekender festival.

Robert Hart, aged 26, died in hospital four days after the attack at around 9.15pm on Saturday (June 7) after suffering a bleed to the brain.

He was with his girlfriend in front of the festival’s main stage when he was attacked and punched to the ground unconscious – once in the head, and possibly a second time in the chest.

Police believe an inflatable doll was thrown in front of the couple and a confrontation took place after the doll hit Robert and his girlfriend.

He was given CPR at the scene by two off-duty medics, one of whom was a midwife, but died at Salford Royal Hospital yesterday.

The police are urging any members of the public who saw an altercation involving an inflatable doll to come forward.

Robert’s attacker is described as a mixed race male, aged in his late 20's and around 6ft 1 tall.

He has a muscular build and short, dark hair which was shaved at the sides. He was also wearing shorts and a blue, bomber-style jacket with the letter 'A' in white on the front.

Detective Inspector Richard Eales said: “We are still in the early stages of this investigation; however several witnesses have assisted us with vital information concerning the description of the offender.

We want to speak to anyone who remembers seeing this inflatable doll and the attack which followed.

“Robert’s family have said he was a loving and caring man. They are in utter shock and we have specially-trained officers supporting them.

“The man who punched Robert may not know what has happened and I would appeal for him to come forward.”

Robert, who was originally from Macclesfield, was living in Liverpool with his girlfriend and working in the call centre of a high street bank.

Earlier in the day, he and his girlfriend had gone to visit friends in Miles Platting before the group travelled to Heaton Park together.

DI Eales confirmed police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and have no reason to believe the attacker was involved in any other assaults during the festival.

He said a picture which has been shared on social media and appears to show a man being kicked in the head at Parklife is unrelated to Robert’s death.

DI Eales also declined to comment on whether the attack has jeopardised the future of the Parklife Festival.

Police have issued an efit and are also keen with anyone with relevant information, photos or footage to call 0161 85 69283 or email mit.syndicate8@gmp.police.uk.
