A NEW community centre and cafe is set to open in Clarence Park next month.

The bowling pavilion in the Bury park is being converted into a new centre called The Green, which will be used by residents and community groups.

It will also be used as a base for Bury Council to deliver services to people with learning disabilities.

The council says the cafe will be officially opened in July, and that it will advertise for a partner to run the cafe.

Cllr Rishi Shori, cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said: “It’s really exciting to see new services for some of our most vulnerable customers coming to fruition.

“The council is committed to investing in learning disability services and The Green is the first of a number of planned new venues, from which we will deliver modern services, within the community and closer to people’s homes.

“And the fact that everyone in the community can use this new centre is just the icing on the cake.”
