A CAR set on fire while it was about to be towed away after a crash.

The Ford Fiesta had been involved in a collision on Manchester Road, near Holy Cross College, which blocked the road for around half an hour this afternoon.

The driver of the car was not hurt in the crash, but at about 3.30pm, about an hour after the incident, she saw her car set fire on the tow truck.

Crews from Bury fire station who attended the incident said it was likely to have been caused by an electrical fault.
