FREEBIE hunters are gearing up for one of the giveaways of the year as a new supermarket opens in Bury on Thursday morning.

Aldi is opening a new branch at Crostons Retail Park and the first 100 people in the queue will win prizes as part of a golden envelope giveaway.

They include a 32in television, an underwater camera and nine portable DVD players.

When the firm opened its Prestwich branch in February, the first person in line was Michaela Bell, who wanted to win so badly, she camped out overnight.

For her efforts, she was given a  £300 hamper packed with Champagne and other goodies.

Other shoppers won shopping vouchers and digital cameras and more than 100 of them queued round the block.

The Bury store has created 30 jobs.

It will officially open at 8am.
