A TEENAGER was beaten for his mobile phone in Bury while listening to music late at night.

The 17-year-old was approached by someone who tried to grab his phone just after midnight on July 29 in Hazel Avenue, but managed to wrestle it back after a struggle.

However he was then punched in the back of the head and fell to floor, where he was kicked repeatedly in the stomach.

Police say the victim could see three people running away after the incident.

He could only provide a description of one of the attackers, who is said to be 6ft, white, slim and in his early to mid 20s, wearing dark jogging pants, a dark jacket and dark cap.

Det Con Alison Kay, of Bury police, said: “The victim was kicked in the ribs by the offenders, all because he would not hand over his mobile phone.

“Fortunately, he suffered bruising rather than fracture but has been left shaken.

“He could only describe one of the offenders but I would ask anyone who may have been walking or driving in the area at the time to call us.

"I would also ask those who saw them running away to get in touch.”
