A PUB in Bury is to hold a fundraising night for their DJ after he was critically injured in a bike crash.

Scott Cadwallader, aged 22, is recovering in Manchester Royal Infirmary after the smash on Tuesday, July 29, involving his black Honda motorcycle and a silver Seat Arosa in Wash Lane, near the junction with Fir Street.

The biker suffered serious injuries to his chest and legs, and The Turf pub, in Wash Lane, is to stage a fundraising night on Friday, August 15.

The pub’s landlady, Kathryn Palmer, said Mr Cadwallader is still in a serious condition but is improving, and that his girlfriend, Leanne, has not left his side since the incident.

She said: “He had 12 cracked ribs, his legs were all smashed up. He is improving, but he is not out of the woods yet.”

Mrs Palmer, who runs the pub with her husband Richard, said they wanted to raise some money for Mr Cadwallader, who also lives in Wash Lane, as he has worked as a DJ in the pub at the weekends for the past 18 months.

She added: “He is a lovely guy, really outgoing and everybody loves him. As soon as we heard about it, we knew we had to do something for him.”

The evening will include music and a buffet, and starts at 8pm, with children welcome until 9.30pm. Admission is free.

Police are appealing for witnesses for the incident, which took place at about 7.30pm as Mr Cadwallader travelled along Wash Lane.
