A LOVESTRUCK couple who met while working at Elton Liberal Club were looking for somewhere special to tie the knot — and thought 'why change something that isn’t broken?'.

Paul Holt and Jolene Whatmough met seven years ago, and helpfully the club, in New George Street, has recently gained a wedding licence.

Fittingly, 44-year-old Paul, who is the president of the club, and Jolene, who is the assistant steward, were the first couple to take advantage of its new romantic facilities.

They were joined by about 150 guests last Friday who toasted their marriage.

Jolene, aged 30, said: “I have been a member of the club for about 12 years, and Paul has been a member for much longer.

"So we thought what better place to get married, we know the club inside out and the way it runs. The weather was horrible so it was helpful being inside and avoiding all the rain.”

The couple went on holiday with their children Brad, aged 10, and Chloe, aged four, at Butlins in Skegness and hope to get away together later in the year.
