A MAN believed to be drunk was rescued from a river in Radcliffe this evening.
The man was found in the river at the bottom of Rectory Lane at about 6.20pm.
He got himself out of the river with the assistance of the police and ambulance service.
Firefighters from Bury and Whitefield, a boat crew from Heywood and the air ambulance service also attended the scene.
It is believed the man has been arrested.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "We got a call from the police at 6.20pm to say that a man had been found in the water at the bottom of Rectory Lane.
"The man has got himself out of the water and the police, ambulance and air ambulance were also there."
A spokesman for Bury fire station said: "We believe the man was drunk and police have arrested him."
