RADCLIFFE film-maker Lee Patterson enjoyed an unscripted “happy ending” to a visit to Birmingham when he met one of the world’s top business stars.

For the 28-year-old, who runs Creative-Film Video Production, rubbed shoulders with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.

Both men chatted and Lee even took a “selfie” of himself and Steve on his mobile phone.

Lee had travelled to Birmingham after being invited to attend the National Entrepreneurs Convention.

During the awards event, the former Tottington High School pupil found out he had not been nominated but, to his astonishment, was told headline speaker Steve Wozniak had asked to talk with him.

Lee said: “I couldn’t believe I was being asked to meet and shake the hand of a real living legend who will go down in the history books next to the likes of Thomas Edison, John Logie Baird and Henry Ford.”

He told Lee that not winning an award at this stage in his career would be the best thing to happen to him as it would make him hungrier than ever to ensure he did not “take his eye off the ball”.

Continued Lee: “Steve told me he was impressed to hear that I refused a £1,000 payment for an online video project and instead asked to be paid in parts from our client’s warehouse in order to grow my business.”

The former freelance cameraman launched his own company in his home town two years ago to make promotional videos for businesses. And over the past 12 months, Lee has developed a programme to give work experience to young, unemployed people.

“The first day people turn up and think they will be directing a full scale movie,” he added. “But the main aim is to really get under the surface to find out what makes them tick and to leave them inspired enough to get their life back on course.”

The businessman has disclosed that his company has just signed a lease to move to an office in Salford Quays, complete with a full production studio.

He said: “We will still keep a small studio open in Bury as we plan to open another business in early 2015 which will provide a fun, easy and more localised way to share and promote videos. This is going to be big for the North West and, if it takes off, could provide plenty jobs in the area.”

Revealing plans to recruit three new staff, including two apprentices, Lee concluded: “Back in the early days of my career when I worked for big broadcast companies like the BBC and the innovative local television channel MUTV, It made me realise just how important it was to inspire each other, especially towards local talent.”
