PRESTWICH residents have been left scratching their heads after a series of coded signs appeared across the town.
The signs read: "I'm so so so sorry' and have been tied to lampposts along Middleton Road, Bury New Road and Bury Old Road in recent days.
Residents have taken to social networking websites to offer their theories on what the ambiguously worded signs mean.
The love heart in the 'o' of 'sorry' has lead some to speculate that it is a message from a cheat to their partner.
Others have joked that it is Bury Council apologising for their controversial new bin collection system, while some think it is part of a clever viral advertising campaign.
On Facebook, Jaymie Simon, said: "It's probably some man cheated on his wife and thought he'd would put 'sorry' posters up."
Alex Leahy said: "I think the traffic lights are broken, but can't speak."
Nicola Shaw said: "I've seen them too, but don't know what they are about. I was wondering myself."
