STAFF at Miller Metcalfe have cycled 74 miles on an exercise bike — the actual cycling distance between all six of their physical branches — to raise money to support disadvantaged children and young people right here in the UK.

Miller Metcalfe has become challenge heroes for BBC Children in Need, by taking on a sponsored cycle at its head office at Merchant’s Place in Bolton.

Money raised will go to support disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

A total of 28 people took part, cycling approximately 20 minutes each to reach the mutual goal.

Miller Metcalfe’s Giving Back programme helps people in their local communities, often raising money to support the younger generation.

After all, where would we be without the children of our community? Great causes aimed at raising money to support children that need it most is exactly the reason why Miller Metcalfe was just itching to get involved with BBC’s Children In Need.

Marketing executive Sophie Bentley, who organised the event, said: “As expected, we’ve had a great response from the people who work at Miller Metcalfe for the sponsored cycle.

"We’d like to say a huge thank you to all those who supported us already, but we’re hoping to raise a lot more. All the money is going to BBC Children in Need and will help ensure that children across the UK have a safe and happy upbringing. Please dig deep if you can.”

BBC Children in Need works throughout the year to ensure that every child in the UK has a safe, happy and secure childhood, and the chance to reach their full potential. It relies on the energy and commitment of thousands of fundraising heroes and supporters across the UK, who donate their time and money to support the Appeal. Whether through cake sales, dance offs or treasure hunts, every penny of the money raised goes towards supporting projects across the UK.

Every single penny raised by BBC Children in Need goes directly to UK projects working with children and young people who may be affected by neglect, abuse or poverty, or those who have faced challenges in their lives such as serious illness, disabilities and psychological disorders.
