The vehicle had aquaplaned just after Junction 1 of the southbound carriageway, and was hit in the side by another car at about 7am yesterday.
The woman in the car which had spun out of control had to be cut out of her vehicle, and was suffering with severe lower back pain. The other driver was unhurt and the carriageway was shut for an hour.
Heavy rain affected much of Bolton and Bury yesterday morning, with the showers being expected to turn wintery into the coming week.
