A MAGICAL mystery digital tour with a difference begins next week, courtesy of Bury Council, Six Town Housing and Unison.

They have joined forces as part of National Go Online fortnight to bring new life to people’s golden oldie memories with a little help from technology.

The digital tour will take people on a journey of discovery from researching family trees to downloading old favourite music tracks.

People can also drop into a basic learner session and discover how to use smart phones, tablets and laptops.

The tour guide special is:

• Monday (March 2): people can get connected and stay connected with old school friends and family. They can learn how to scan and save old photos, search family trees online, listen to favourite golden oldies by downloading music at a memory lane session at Chesham Fold Community Centre between 10am and 1pm. Bury Library is running a family history online session from 2pm to 4pm where residents can discover how to view old images and maps of Bury and how to access old copies of the Bury Times. Places can be booked at Bury Library by calling 0161 253 7089.

• Tuesday (March 3): jargon buster drop-in sessions for complete beginners. From turning on a tablet, phone and laptop, to charging, sending e-mails, taking photos, searching, downloading, uploading and streaming. Free internet access is available. The sessions are at Bury Library between 10am and 3pm and at the benefits office, Whittaker Street, Radcliffe, between 10am and noon.

• Wednesday (March 4): bring your memories alive drop-in session where ways will be shown on how to search family trees online, and listen to golden oldies by downloading music. The Staying Well team will be on hand to provide support with health, well-being, personal independence and social life. To be held at the "digital hub’ in the benefits office, Whittaker Street, Radcliffe between 10am and 3pm.

• Thursday (March 5): jargon buster drop-in sessions at Bury Unison Office, Knowsley Street, between 10am and 1pm and at Bury Town Hall between 2pm and 4pm.

• Friday March 6: just ask drop-in sessions, where visitors can browse with free internet access, ask questions, and staff will be on hand to help between 10am and 3pm at Bury Library and the benefits office, Whittaker Street, Radcliffe.
