A STUDENT will 'endeavour' to do well in her GCSE exams — after winning a competition to name a new building at Bury College.
Ciboney Perkins, aged 16, was presented with a Kindle Fire e-reader for her suggestion to call the college's new £3.5 million building - The Endeavour Centre.
The centre will cater for courses in multi-trade skills, technology based subjects, computer aided design and creative media, and Ciboney revealed her idea for the name of the building, which will be opened in the autumn, came after watching the ITV detective drama of the same name.
Ciboney, currently a pupil at St Gabriel's High School, plans to complete her A Levels at the college, said the Kindle was a welcome addition in helping her to revise for her upcoming exams.
She said: “I was really pleased to win. It’s good because I don’t often win things.”
Keith Platts, executive director of resources and learning at Bury College, picked out Ciboney's entry as the winner.
He said: “We chose the name because it reflects the personal values of hard work and aspiration which we encourage our students to develop in order to achieve their goals.”
The new centre is the latest multi-million pound building to be opened at the college, following the new sports centre which was unveiled earlier this month.
