BUDDING writers have seen their work read by a global audience due to a special project.

Pupils at Holcombe Brook Primary School have had their efforts posted onto the educational website Lend Me Your Literacy, which has since been read by hundreds of people around the world.

Henry Smith, representing the website, spent a day with the children as part of the school's literacy week, and instead of their writing just being read by their teachers, children have seen it sent around the world thanks to the power of the internet.

Also during the literacy themed week, the children shared their favourite books with each other and dressed as their favourite book characters for World Book Day.

Headteacher Gill Evans said: "It is wonderful that we can now celebrate the children’s writing by sharing it on the Lend Me Your Literacy website. It means the children have a real purpose and audience for their writing.

"Within a couple of days of showcasing our children’s work on the website, it has had almost 300 views from as far afield as Dubai. This has created a real buzz about writing."
