COUNCIL chiefs are reminding residents that they will see no change to their household waste collections over the Easter bank holidays.

Collections of rubbish and recycling will take place as usual on Good Friday, and the same applies to those households due a brown bin collection on Easter Monday.

Bury Council is also prompting residents to recycle as much of their Easter waste as possible.

They have issued a reminder on what can be deposited in each coloured recycling bin:

blue - glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles, aluminium and steel food and drink cans, empty aerosol cans, clean aluminium foil.

green - newspapers, magazines and junk mail, catalogues and phone directories, paper and shredded paper, cardboard packaging and boxes, clean cardboard food packaging, wrapping paper, greetings cards and envelopes, cardboard milk and drink cartons.

brown: cooked and uncooked food waste, garden waste such as grass cuttings, shrub and hedge clippings, cut flowers and plants, leaves, bark and twigs, small branches, and small logs.

Opening times over the Easter weekend for local recycling centres are 8am to 8pm.

Bury Council’s customer contact team will be closed on both Good Friday and Easter Monday but collection details can be checked at www.bury.gov.uk/bincollections.
