RAIN failed to stop "play" for a two-pronged event at Tottington St John's Cricket Club.
Despite the pre-April showers, there was a healthy turnout at Crompton Meadows on Saturday for the women's cricket open day and the annual NatWest Cricket Force Day to spruce up the ground in preparation for the new season.
More than 30 players, friends and helpers turned out to give the pavilion, scorebox, sheds and other areas a spring clean.
The forthcoming season will break new ground when a women's team play their home fixtures at Tottington for the first time. Several of the players turned up to sign on officially and to receive their new shirts and hoodies from sponsor Northern Star IFA.
