FAMILIES took a growing interest at this year’s Tottington Horticultural Society’s annual Spring Show.

Classes of daffodils, flowers, eggs, cookery, wine and crafts kept visitors young and old entertained at Greenmount Old School, in Brandlesholme Road.

Society secretary Dorothy Heaton said: "It was a lovely day for our Spring Show, and we were pleased with the number of exhibits in all classes which made for much of interest to see and admire.

"The display of daffodils and Spring flowers was gorgeous and brightened the whole room. Craft classes showed just how many skilful and creative people there are and the children were very imaginative in their creations.

"Egg, wine and cookery classes all had a good number of entries, and visitors were impressed by the display."

As well as a plant stall, tombola and raffle, the café was a hit selling homemade cakes and scones, and a display by members of Manchester, Bolton & Bury Canal Society.

Trophies were presented by society chairman Roger Brown to winners of each class, followed by the sale of produce, at the show on April 18.

Mrs Heaton added: “Thanks goes to the committee, helpers, exhibitors, judges and visitors and everyone who supported us in any way.”
