AN INTREPID youngster is hoping to prove he has a real head for heights to raise money for his Whitefield school.
Aidan Beharrell attends Elms Bank Specialist Arts College, but will travel to Scotland tomorrow on a quest to walk up Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain, the following day.
The 18-year-old, who has autism, will be joined by his younger sister Sara-Marie, who goes to Broad Oak Sports College in Bury.
Aidan, who loves to walk and camp in his spare time, is aiming to climb to the top of the mountain, which stands at 4,400ft
He said: "I am really excited about the challenge.
"Everyone has been very generous around school and I have managed to get £150 in sponsorship so far."
The youngster, who lives in Bury, started at Elms Bank at the age of 11, and has been on many school trips and featured in school drama productions to help improve his speech and social skills.
Aidan's form tutor Sita Patel said: "Aidan is such a lovely person.
"He is always willing to help everybody and is very polite and sociable.
"We all wish him well for his challenge."
