CLUBBERS can enjoy a special night of musical nostalgia this Sunday as DJs dust down the vinyl to recreate the legendary Benny’s nightclub.

Three DJs will be gracing the decks at Radcliffe Borough FC's party suite to play classic soul tracks from the late 80s and early 90s, reliving the club nights that drew in party lovers from across the north of England.

Former Benny’s resident Paul Crawley will be one of the DJs on the night, a club scene veteran of 35 years and writer/producer of Divine Inspiration’s massive club anthem ‘The Way’.

Joining him will be Paul Dakeyne, who toured with the Ministry of Sound for six years and has played sets for the likes of U2 and Kraftwerk, and Des Mitchell, resident DJ for 14 years at one of the world’s biggest clubs in Mallorca.

It is expected around 200 people will attend the event at Stainton Park, off Pilkington Road, marking the eighth Benny’s tribute night since the Warth Fold Road club shut down more than a decade ago.

Mr Crawley said: “Benny’s was a very, very special place and to have some genuine legends in Paul Dakeyne and Des Mitchell coming on Sunday is fantastic.

“We are really going back to our roots as DJs playing soul music, and people of a certain age will certainly remember what an amazing club Benny’s was.

“There used to be 1,000 people in there every night, and a lot of them would stay through until breakfast the next morning.

“The room at the football club is beautiful and has a great sound system, and it will be fantastic to recreate the atmosphere of Benny’s again.”

Tickets are available at a pre-booking price of £5 from the football club on 07925868864, and will also be available on the door.

Doors will be open from 8.30pm on Sunday until 2am.
