THIS dramatic 3D fly-through is the first glimpse into the multi-million pound world class fire training centre being developed in Bury.
The centre will train firefighters for every possible incident, including train and tram derailment; road accidents; water rescues; incidents involving hazardous materials; search and rescue; collapsed buildings and hi-rise building fires.
Features will include a fire street and a large warehouse will be transformed into a community hub for the public to learn about fire safety.
A sod cutting ceremony took place this week marking the start of the first stage of construction on the £11 million centre on Wellington Street.
Cllr David Acton, chairman of the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Authority, said:“The exciting development will allow firefighters from Greater Manchester – and potentially beyond – to train in the most modern and realistic conditions.
“The centre will also provide a fantastic facility for the community where young people in particular can learn how to protect themselves from fire and other dangers in an exciting and memorable way while gaining an insight into the varied work of GMFRS.”
