MORE than 700 spectators were "bowled over" when they attended a one-day family music festival at Bury's Woodbank Cricket Club.

Last Sunday's Woodstock Bury event, which raised money for the Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour charity, featured a number of musical acts including Ohasis, Molly Bloom, Jackson Kay Band, Mr G's Blues Band and a Robbie Williams tribute.

Additionally, there were bags of family fun, sponsored by the Village Hotel, which included visits by Spider Man and Josh's stormtroopers, the Sentinel Squad.

And afternoon tea was served, thanks to sponsors Bakestone Bread. Also, the proceeds of a barbecue will go the charity, thanks to Steven Hilton of the Best in Bury Foods.

Among the guests who attended were Bury's mayor, Cllr Stella Smith, and her consort, husband John. Both enjoyed sampling "Super Josh's outstanding beer," brewed by Bury's Outstanding Brewery. Meanwhile, Financial Options sponsored the VIP area while thebestofbury's Pimms tent was an early sell out.

Dawn Fidler, of the Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour charity, said: "More than 700 came throughout the day to support Josh's charity, an amazing turn out considering this was the first Josh music festival and the weather.

"We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Woodbank Cricket Club, to all our sponsors who made Sunday possible, to Josh's amazing 'Thumbraisers' and, of course, to everyone who came along on the day."

Martyn Ward, chairman of Woodbank Cricket Club, said: "Our first music festival was an ideal opportunity to join forces with the 'Super Josh' family to raise funds for the charity. Furthermore, the charity is one that is local to our cricket club which made our decision that much easier. The concept of being able to assist a children’s charity, no matter how small that contribution, is satisfying to say the least."
