A MOTORHOME was destroyed after it burst into flames on the M66.
Firefighters from Bury station were called to the northbound carriageway of the motorway, near to junction one at Ramsbottom, at about 1pm on Sunday.
Fire officials said the blaze started because of a fault in the engine, and flames then spread before destroying the motorhome.
The couple inside the vehicle managed to pull over and get out before the fire took hold, and were not injured.
The incident caused severe delays to traffic heading towards Haslingden.
