TWO talented Whitefield sisters have the world at their feet.

Mekdelawit Markos, aged nine, and eight-year-old sister Adalia are celebrating being accepted as junior associates at the prestigious Elmhurst School for Dance in Birmingham, in association with Birmingham Royal Ballet.

Junior associates train regularly with an Elmhurst tutor and are also given the opportunity to perform on stage with major ballet companies requiring children in their professional productions.

Both girls aspire to a career in ballet, and over the next few years, their training will be shared between the junior asociates scheme and the Janet Lomas School of Dancing in Bury.

Mekdelawit and Adalia took their first ballet lessons at the Janet Lomas School of Dancing four years ago and now attend multiple classes in ballet, tap and modern each week. Both girls have taken many examinations, gaining top distinction grades in every one.

Janet Lomas said “Mekdelawit and Adalia both have a very natural talent that has been apparent since their first classes with us as a young beginner. We are all so proud of what they have achieved."

The Janet Lomas School of Dancing has been training dancers in Bury for more than 37 years, with past students being awarded places at distinguished full-time ballet schools and dance colleges, and many have enjoyed successful careers as professional dancers across the world.
