RADCLIFFE driving instructor Graham Evans is well and truly in gear to boost the Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour charity - thanks to an innovative fundraiser.

He is looking for people to take part in a mock driving test which will finish with a presentation event at Bury's Village Hotel on September 24 when the winners and runners-up of the "Drive4Josh" event will be announced.

Everyone who signs up will be taken round the same route and their driving will be monitored by an app, the black box that Aviva uses. This will mark participants' driving style and control out of 100. Points will then be deducted for any faults, such as penalties for not checking mirrors, driving one handed and road rage.

Those who wish to take part will need to raise or donate £50, including one ticket to the "Drive4Josh" awards, in aid of the charity to undertake the mock driving test challenge.

Dawn Fidler, Joshua Wilson's mum, said: "We want as many people to take part as possible. We pre-sold 50 per cent of our allocation for participants before our official launch.

"Alternatively, if anyone would like to be involved with the donation of any driving-related prize, or perhaps sponsoring the buffet at the evening event, then please let me know."

Mr Evans, owner of Radcliffe-based driving school GDT, said: "I have been working with Dawn for a while, but wanted to find a unique way to raise money for the charity that was accessible to the non-adrenaline junkie.

"Jumping out of a plane terrifies me and my running days seem to be behind me. Those who have taken part already have had that infamous sweaty palm feeling."
