OPENING a children's nursery in Bury may cause dogs to bark all day, objectors have claimed.

Bambinos Ltd has applied to Bury Council for permission to change the use of a house in Manchester Road, near the junction with Radcliffe Road, so it can be used as a nursery for under fives.

If permission is granted at a meeting of Bury planning committee at 7pm on Tuesday, the nursery would be able to open from 8am to 6pm on weekdays and would be able to accommodate 24 children.
Parents and staff would park at Bury Sports Club.

Five neighbours, living in Manchester Road and Caton Close, have formally objected to the idea.

According to a council report, one said: "Both ourselves and the neighbours on the other side of the building own dogs.

"Constant noise from lots of children will cause much distress to all our family and dogs, which can only lead to more noise problems if the dogs bark all day."

Others claimed the nursery would cause "traffic chaos," as there are no parking spaces on that stretch of Manchester Road.

The report said Bambinos would soundproof the building and officers recommended approval.

It added: "It is considered that the level of supervision, together with appropriate soundproofing, should be such as to ensure that noise levels would be acceptable."
