TWO teenagers have admitted attacking a teenager from Prestwich at a Metrolink stop.

Moshe Fuerst, aged 17, was coming home from a trip to the cinema with three friends on the night of September 5 when they were approached by a group of teenagers at Bowker Vale station.

Moshe was punched in the face and kicked in the head as he lay on the ground, leaving him with a fractured skull and bleed to the brain.

The former Manchester Mesivta pupil was in a coma in hospital but has since made steady progress.

He has been released from hospital to continue his recovery at home.

Two of Moshe’s friends, both aged 18, also went to hospital but were allowed home the same night.

Police arrested three 17-year-old boys, and two of them were charged last Thursday.

Officers said no further action would be taken against the other boy.

The teenagers, from Bury, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Manchester Youth Court last Friday.

One of the defendants admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm and two counts of assault by beating.

The other admitting assault occasioning actual bodily harm, inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and assault by beating.

Both boys were granted unconditional bail and probation service workers will now compile pre-sentence reports before they are sentenced at the same court on October 20.

Speaking after the incident, Greater Manchester Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Lloyd praised the quick arrests and said he hoped it gave reassurance to the Jewish community and the wider public.

He added: “Moshe Fuerst has suffered terrible injuries and I hope him and his friends make a speedy and full recovery.”
