FOOTBALL and television fans are being encouraged to turn out in droves on Sunday for a star-studded fundraiser at Radcliffe Borough FC.

A team of stars from Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks, and other TV shows will be chancing their arm against the Borough's title-winning side of 1996.

The all-star team will be led by Danny Miller, who plays Aaron Livsey in Emmerdale, while Royle Family favourite Ralf Little has also been confirmed on the teamsheet as well as Coronation Street's Ryan Thomas.

Chairman Bernard Manning Jr is hoping the celebrity names can draw a large crowd and give the club's coffers a timely boost.

He said: "We have done this before and it has been quite successful, and we have thought about making it an annual event.

"Hopefully it will turn out to be a nice afternoon and we can get plenty of people out there to see some famous faces and support the club in our efforts to stay alive.

"It's vital for the club that we can keep funds coming in through events like this. Like most non-league teams, we live on a week-to-week basis. We can only bring in crowds of 100 or so and you can't survive on that alone.

"We have a few good ideas in terms of fundraising in the future and this is the first of them.

"If there's a good crowd at the Belvoir Stadium on the day then that will be a real boost for us, and will help us pay our players' wages and so on until around Christmas time."

Tickets are priced at £3 for adults and £1 for children, and can be purchased in advance by calling 0161 724 8346.

The full line-up of celebrity players is set to be confirmed in the coming days.

Kick-off is at 2pm at the Belvoir Stadium.
