CHILDREN at Summerseat Methodist Primary School entertained teachers and family at a charity coffee morning.

Year 5 and 6 pupils worked together to organise the school’s third Macmillan Coffee Morning raising £480 for the cancer support charity on September 25.

Children decorated the school hall and brought in cakes, while other pupils provided musical entertainment and served tea and coffee.

Deputy headteacher and class four teacher, Alyson Walsh, said: “It really was a great morning with parents, grandparents and all the school community coming together.

“All the children at school brought in a pound to donate towards the charity and then obviously we had our cakes on sale too.

“Each year it becomes the next set of year 5 and 6 pupils’ responsibility to organise and host the coffee morning and this year they did a fantastic job.

“We decided we wanted to raise at least the same amount of money as last year and the children were over the moon when we totted up the total and managed to beat our target."

She added: “The children worked really hard and they all seemed really pleased with themselves.

“I am really proud of them all and am already looking forward to holding next year’s coffee morning for this great charity.”
