A FOOTBALL club is all kitted out for winter thanks to a Ramsbottom charity group.

Peel Lions Club donated a cheque for £389.88 to enable Ramsbottom United Junior Football Club's under 11 Sonic Team to buy new rain jackets and tops ahead of the colder months.

Lion president Sean Hill presented the team, who play in the Bury and Bolton League, with the cheque at their training ground at Woodhey High School in Ramsbottom.

Mr Hill said: “We are happy to be able to provide the sponsorship, and hope it brings them luck this season.”

Under 11s coach and manager Chris Ayre said: “It’s fantastic .We didn’t expect it and the whole team are so grateful of the donation.

“It was absolutely chucking it down at training the other Tuesday so they definitely came in handy.

“The children were over the moon because we’re beholden to the North West weather since we are often training and playing in cold and wet conditions."
