THE countdown has begun towards the official release of a festive CD featuring the cream of Bury's musical talent which could become an enduring Christmas classic.

The Spirit of Bury's Christmas for Everyone will be available to buy in a range of local outlets from December 4 or downloaded. Net profits generated from the sales will go towards Bury Hospice.

Behind the initiative is Chris Buckley, organiser of the annual Glaston-Bury event, and musician Dan Price who wrote and produced the Christmas for Everyone song, described as Queen meets Slade meets Wizzard.

Dan said: "The song was recorded at Bury's Edwin Street Studio over a four-day period. We had 20 musicians from around 15 local bands and the 20-strong Fascinating Rhythm choir from Ramsbottom take part. This is a feelgood song which will put a smile on everyone's face.

"All in all, this has cost us around £750 but that has been met by the kindness of local businesses. We are delighted to be raising money for Bury Hospice. Everybody who buys or downloads Christmas for Everyone will become a part of it."

A Christmas for Everyone video featuring the musicians involved in the recording will also be available to watch on YouTube and Facebook.

Dan added: "We have around 25 hours of footage from the recordings and this will be whittled down to around three minutes for the video."

When the CD is released on December 4, it will be stocked at the Tesco store in Bury as well as three local Asda supermarkets together with a number of charity shops and other outlets. It can be pre-ordered from iTunes before the song is available for downloading from November 17.

Chris Buckley added: "The feedback so far has been really tremendous and 100 per cent. I haven't heard anyone say they don't like Christmas for Everyone. This all came about after Dan and I discussed the idea more than a year ago. That resulted in Dan writing and recording a demo. Christmas for Everyone is for everyone, a time of goodwill to all."
