A MUM and her two-year-old child escaped unharmed after a kitchen fire in their Radcliffe home this morning.
Firefighters reported that the blaze started after the woman had placed some clothes on top of her electric cooker, which was then accidentally turned on by the child.
Crews from Whitefield and Bury fire stations attended the incident in Holland Street alongside the North West Ambulance Service at around 11am on Tuesday.
Whitefield fire station watch manager Tim Eaton said: “There was a lot of smoke and a neighbour ran into the house to help contain the fire. We used a fan to blow the smoke out of the house, and fortunately it was not a serious fire that caused any major damage.
“The ambulance service assisted and provided precautionary treatment to the occupants at the scene.”
