MARTIN Reid missed out on a bronze medal by just 0.33 seconds in the senior’s 1500metres at the Northern Athletics Under-17s/U20s/Senior Indoor Championships, writes Steve Houghton.
His fourth-placed 4:05:99 was more than eight seconds quicker than his 4:14:44 for fifth in the tactical second heat, which was jogged at a pace slightly quicker than heat one’s winning time of 4:18:03 to guarantee qualification.
Also in Sheffield for the NoEAAs, Chris Mann took high jump gold with 2.05m after countback with fellow u23s Seun Okome of Sale. It was another good leap from Mann, though he is looking to capitalise this summer and break his 2.08m personal best.
U17s Nathaniel Marshall clocked 7:44 over 60m on his way to fifth in the semi-final; it was a consistent performance after 7:43 for third in his heat. U23s Demi-Lee Scott competed with the seniors clocking 8.19 for fifth in the 60m heat and eighth with 8.25secs in the semi-final.
Debuting as an u17s, Hannah Kelly’s 26:53 was fourth in the 200m semi-finals after her second place in the heats with 26:81. Jack Dickinson ran his favoured 400m, with 53:44 and sixth place for the u20s heats.
