THE leader of Bury Council thanked colleagues last week after being confirmed as the borough's mayor for 2016/17.
Cllr Mike Connolly was confirmed as Bury's next mayor at last week's full council meeting and will take up the role in May, when he will also step down as leader of the Labour group.
He said: "I would like to say a brief, and personal, thank you to Council for electing me and my partner Ian as Mayor and Consort for the coming municipal year. We are truly honoured."
