STAFF at a Radcliffe nursery are celebrating after their hard work was rewarded with an improved Ofsted rating.

Clever Clogs Day Nursery, in Green Street, was rated as 'Good' in all aspects by inspectors who visited earlier this month, having been told last year that the centre required improvement.

Manager Asia Parveen praised the staff, who see around 30 children every day, for their efforts over the last year.

She told the Radcliffe Times: "It was a really good report and we are happy with it. The main things that stood out for me were about how hard the staff work to make this a safe and fun place for the children at all times.

"Everyone here has worked very hard since last year to improve our rating and they have done some brilliant things."

The nursery opened in 2003 and caters for children aged four and under.

Ofsted inspector Katie Sparrow said in her report: "Managers and staff are dedicated and committed to their roles. They show a united and ambitious vision for all aspects of the nursery and to providing the best possible care and learning opportunities for the children. Self-evaluation is highly effective and has already contributed to a wave of improvement throughout the nursery.

"Partnerships with parents are well established. An effective two-way flow of communication and high involvement from parents help to ensure they are entirely involved in their children's learning. Parents are complimentary about the nursery and staff team. Partnerships in place with other professionals are equally well established.

"The indoor learning environment is bright, vibrant and highly engaging. Children have independent access to a range of interesting and thought provoking activities that supports their learning across all areas. Children make good progress."

She added: "To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should improve opportunities in the outdoor provision for children who prefer to learn outside and help children to understand the consequences of their actions and how their behaviour affects others."
