A BURY accountants brought together a collection of local businesses to raise £900 for charity Annabelle's Challenge.

Horsfield and Smith hosted a Christmas coffee morning in December at their offices in Walmersley Road, with guests asked to attend wearing festive fancy dress.

The charity, named after Brandlesholme youngster Annabelle Griffin, supports patients and families affected by Vascular Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which causes a weakening of the collagen in the tissues of the body and makes sufferers prone to spontaneous rupture of the organs or arteries.

Among the businesses who generously donated raffle prizes were Lancashire Cricket Club, Pilot Mill, Slatterys, the Red Hall Hotel, and the Fusiliers Museum.

Jane Hawarden, Marketing Manager at Horsfield and Smith, said: "Our boardroom was full of clients and local businesses and there was a wonderful community atmosphere. We raised a staggering £900 for Annabelle’s Challenge and we would like to thank all those who attended and supported our event."

Jared Griffin, Annabelle’s father, added: "The coffee morning was a huge success, it was amazing to see our local community come together in support of our charity and we are grateful for the hard work by Jane and the team at Horsfield and Smith.

"As a Bury family we are delighted to be the official partner charity of Bury FC and alongside our accountants are extremely grateful for their support in helping to raise awareness and funds for Annabelle’s Challenge."
