Firemen helped to rescue a wheelchair user after he became trapped in a lift.
Crews from Bury were called to help a 22-year-old man in Maxwell Street at 5.30pm today.
The man, who lives in a sheltered housing scheme, had become trapped on the first floor of the house in his wheelchair for half an hour when the lift stopped working.
The lift had descended about a foot before becoming jammed and crews had to use specialist equipment to pry open the doors.
Crews then lifted the man out and carried him down stairs to his room, before then recovering his wheelchair.
There were no injuries reported.
