THE North Western Cyclo Cross Association season was rounded off with the final event at Beacon Country Park near Skelmersdale and an end-of-season prize-giving ceremony.

Horwich Cycling Club's Joseph Peatfield starred as he claimed second in the overall standings in just his second year racing in the senior categories, and also triumphed in the junior cup.

Additionally, Peatfield was part of the team which claimed a bronze medal in the senior team cup, alongside Dave Powell and Craig Sefton who finished fifth and 11th in the overall league respectively.

Horwich Cycling Club were also awarded bronze medals in the women's and veteran's team trophies, a category the club has won a prize in since it was introduced three years ago.

At the race at Beacon Country Park, Horwich had four members in the top 10 of the senior race with Powell and Peatfield claiming second and third places, respectively, while Andy Porter was eighth and Sefton 11th.

In the veteran event, Andy Brindle, who has placed in the top three at each event, finished runner-up after battling with overall league winner Dave Haygarth, and Steffan Chandler placed sixth with five other riders also finishing.

Women: 69th Sarah Grimshaw, 95th Kate Porter.
