ORGANISERS are preparing for the return of the popular Bury Lions Carnival next month.

They are reminding people there is still time to apply for stalls, a spot in the parade or carboot sale ahead of the colourful event, which will return to the Market car park in Bury, on Saturday, June 11 and Sunday, June 12.

Families are expected to flock to the funfair, which will be open on both days with Sunday hosting the gala, including stalls, the car boot and an array of entertainment.

The parade will take place on Sunday, starting at 1.30pm and setting off from Market Street, adjacent to the Bury College buildings.

Carnival chairman Scott Richardson said: “We’re hoping for another successful event with lots of stalls and entertainment for families to enjoy.

“I think the fact that we now have the gala and funfair on the same site it will encourage a lot more people to come along.

“Application forms have been coming in slowly but surely and it’s shaping up to look like a busy weekend.

“We are still encouraging local businesses and charities to get involved by completing the attached application form.”

Youngsters can visit The Millgate Shopping Centre, near to TJ Hughes, on Saturday from 10am to 4pm where they can register to become this year’s queen. People will also be able to buy raffle tickets to help raise funds for the carnival.

For anyone wishing to hold a stall, parade in the carnival or take part in a carboot sale fill out the application form.
