A WEEK of activities to raise awareness for dementia is being put on by the Greenmount Village Community.

The aim of the week is to help residents in the village understand how to interact with people living with dementia.

The activities are open to all and the first is on Saturday at the church at 2pm where there is a session for people to learn more about what it is like to live with dementia and turn that understanding into action.

On Sunday at 2pm at Hollymount Orchard, Hollymount Lane, there's a forget-me-not picnic which will raise awareness of dementia and the benefits of being with nature.

On Monday at 2pm at the cricket club, Brandlesholme Road, there's a pot up a forget-me-not for people to enjoy a meaningful activity.

At 2pm on Tuesday at Toby Carvery, Brandlesholme Road, there will be a guided walk along the old railway lines from Greenmount Sidings.

The activities move back to the church on Wednesday where there is church singing and reminiscing starting at 2.30pm.

There will be a repeat of Saturday's event on Thursday at 7pm and on Friday at 2pm and 7pm there will be a drop in for carers, also at the church.

This session is an informal event supported by Bury Carers and gives people a chance to chat with other local people and support services about fun activities.
