LABOUR campaigners brought their battle bus to Bury to encourage people to vote stay in the European Union referendum.

Shadow cabinet member Angela Eagle arrived in Bury on Monday on board the 'Labour in for Britain' bus.

The bus has been visiting towns around the North West, including Salford, Oldham and Bolton, with the aim of answering people's questions on the benefits of Britain remaining an EU member.

Among the main issues the 'in' campaigners were pushing included protection of working rights, including paternity pay and 28 days paid holidays a year, and importance of remaining part of the large economic market.

Ms Eagle said: "We have come cross quite a lot of people who were only just beginning to think about what their decision might be.

"They were anxious to talk and listen to some of the arguments and facts about the decision to stay to leave or in the EU.

"Some people have already made their minds up. If you've decided to leave you don't really want to talk about it, but there are loads of people who haven't made their minds up yet so we had a good time talking to people and putting the facts in front of them of how important it is for jobs and prosperity that we stay in the European Union."

The EU referendum will take place on June 23.
